Childbirth Center

The birth of your child is one of the most miraculous moments your family will ever experience. With this in mind, our maternal child health unit takes care of both mother and baby in a comfortable atmosphere managed by compassionate staff. This unit has five labor and delivery rooms with special birthing beds that convert to handle all stages of labor, from pre-labor through delivery to postpartum. Eighteen postpartum beds are available each with infant cribs so your baby can stay with you after the delivery.

When you arrive at CTMC, either in labor or for a scheduled delivery, you will check in at the emergency department registration desk and then be transported to the unit by wheelchair. Even if you have pre-registered, check-in is still required.

For the safety of our patients, two security bracelets are placed on each newborn right after birth. The first has a code which matches a code on the mother's bracelet and the second will activate an alarm if the infant is carried outside the doors of the unit.

Childbirth Classes

We offer a free "Preparation for Parenting" class to expecting mothers covering topics such as infant care, breastfeeding, and postpartum care. This class is offered in both Spanish and English. Cradle of Care

After you are discharged from the hospital, you can participate in another free program called "Cradle of Care." A nurse will call you within 48 hours of your discharge to answer any questions or concerns you may have and to schedule your follow-up visit to the hospital for a well-baby exam and breastfeeding instruction. We understand that all of your friends and family might not make it to the hospital for your delivery. That is why we offer a newborn photography program. A member of the staff will take a picture of your newborn. You will receive a link to our online nursery so you can share your baby's photo with family and friends. You can also print the photo if you wish.
