From 1923 to Today

Central Texas Medical Center began its "life" in June, 1923 on Belvin Street in San Marcos as the Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital. Dedicated as a perpetual memorial to all the military men from Hays County who served in World War I, the old structure still stands on Belvin Steet.

Built on IH-35 in March 1960 near where Springtown Mall is located, Hays Memorial Hospital replaced the old hospital on Belvin Street.

In 1983, Hays Memorial built a new facility on Wonder World Drive, changing its name in 1984 to Central Texas Medical Center after joining the Adventist Health System. In 1998, 48,000 feet were added to our facility with the expansion of our emergency department and construction of the 3-story Professional Building, which houses our Center for Wellness & Sports Performance fitness center, CTMC Rehabilitation Services, a third floor conference room and offices for physician practices.
