U.S. Navy (Ret) Admiral Bobby R. Inman to be keynote speaker at 9/11 Memorial

San Marcos, TX) – CTMC Hospice Care, the City of San Marcos and Texas State University will host U.S. Navy (Ret.) Admiral Bobby R. Inman for the 9/11 Memorial and dinner on Thursday, September 11 at the San Marcos Activity Center.  Admiral Inman is a nationally recognized expert in national defense and has varied experience in the areas of academia, technology and public service. 

 Admiral Inman graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1950 and from the National War College in 1972, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1982, when he retired with the rank of Admiral.  While on active duty he served as Director of the National Security Agency (NSA) and Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). 

 

After retirement from the Navy, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation (MCC) in Austin, Texas for four years and Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Westmark Systems, Inc., a privately owned electronics industry holding company for three years.  He became an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Austin in 1987.  Admiral Inman also served as Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas from 1987 through 1990.

He was appointed as a tenured professor holding the Lyndon B. Johnson Centennial Chair in National Policy in 2001 and also served as Interim Dean of the LBJ School of Public Affairs in 2005.

 

Admiral Inman’s primary activity since 1990 has been investing in start-up technology companies, where he is a Managing Partner of Gefinor Ventures.  He is a member of the Board of Directors of Massey Energy Company and of several privately held companies.  He serves as a Trustee of the American Assembly and the California Institute of Technology.  He is a Director of the Public Agenda Foundation and is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.

 

Doors open at 6:00 PM with a special Color Guard ceremony provided by the Kyle/Buda VFW Post # 12058.  The National Anthem and Taps will be performed by students at Texas State University Music department.  Dinner catered by Our Lady of the Lunch will be available for an $8 donation.  The menu will include pasta, rolls, salad, dessert, tea, water and coffee.  Dinner will be served by the Kyle/Buda Ladies Auxiliary.  General seating will also be available.
