SAN MARCOS, TX – Central Texas Medical Center’s dietitians will host a cooking class demonstration for diabetes-healthy meals for the holidays on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. Also, Irma Grouchy, CTMC RN and Diabetes Educator, will share healthy tips for eating right with diabetes.
According to the American Diabetes Association, self-management education or training is a key step in improving health outcomes and quality of life. It focuses on self-care behaviors, such as healthy eating, being active, and monitoring blood sugar. It is a collaborative process in which diabetes educators help people with or at risk for diabetes gain the knowledge and problem-solving and coping skills needed to successfully self-manage the disease and its related conditions.
The demonstration is free of charge and small food samples will be provided. It will be hosted at Springtown Villa, located at 503 Springtown Way in San Marcos. For more information call Irma Grouchy at (512) 753-3706.
