Is your grief overwhelming? Is your child very sad due to a significant loss? Did you lose a spouse or a close friend? Are you feeling sad? CTMC Family Grief Center can help. CTMC Hospice Care and the Hospice Advisory Board are pleased to announce the future opening of the CTMC Family Grief Center.
The Family Grief Center will help to provide a safe and caring environment where comfort can be felt, hope can be seen, and healing can happen.
“This center will be available to the community as a place to turn to when grief becomes unbearable to cope with alone. Whether it’s through individual counseling or groups, this center will allow the youth, their families and the rest of the community to continue to get the support they need when they’re feeling down," says Abel Rodriguez, LMSW, Bereavement Coordinator for CTMC Hospice Care.
The new center will be located in San Marcos in the old Armstrong McCall building, directly behind CTMC Hospice Care at 1315 IH-35 North. Construction will begin this summer. The center will include a conference room, play therapy room for the children and a chapel. Next door adjacent to the center will be the new Have A Heart Thrift store.
“When I heard the center was $25,000 from reaching their fundraising goal, I wanted to help. Having family that has previously been involved in hospice care, I understand their philosophy and mission,” says Kyle Mayor Lucy Johnson, who personally donated $12,500, half the funds needed to renovate the building. Mayor Johnson is challenging the community to help raise the remaining $12,500 needed to complete the center. “We can work together as a community to help make a difference. Sometimes big projects need a push to make it to the finish line, and I am thrilled to help CTMC Hospice reach their goal this summer. Death will impact every person one way or another, so let’s help to provide a place of sanctuary for those in need for grief counseling.”
Other bereavement services include an annual children’s grief camp, Camp HeartSong. For more information, please visit www.HisTouch.com. It was said by Mahatma Gandhi, “If we are to have real peace, we must begin with the children.”
