Central Texas Medical Center: News

CTMC Gets Expecting Mothers Fit For Delivery And Beyond
SAN MARCOS, TX – Congratulations, you’re expecting! As a mother-to-be, Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Institute and Institute for Healthy Living offer a variety of exercise programs designed specifically to prepare a mother for delivery and after her child is born. The classes focus on stretching, breathing and cardio.

CTMC’s Fit for Delivery is a unique prenatal fitness program designed especially for the second trimester of pregnancy. Fit for Delivery classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in CTMC’s Community Classroom. The classes will begin the first week in November and the fee is $35 a month. Aqua Fit for Moms, is another new offering that is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

“These targeted exercises can benefit the mind, body and spirit by boosting a mother’s energy level, helping her sleep better and diminishing any stress or anxiety,” said Maggie Young, certified instructor with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and CTMC’s Fit for Delivery instructor. “In addition to preparing the mother for labor, the classes aid in postpartum recovery.”

The CTMC Women’s Center is pleased to offer a number of educational offerings in preparation of new baby’s arrival. Classes include Baby Basics, breastfeeding classes, car seat safety checks, Cesarean section class, Cradle of Care, childbirth education for first-time moms, childbirth refresher course, and Dads 101.
