Central Texas Medical Center: News

Give Blood and Give the Gift of Life at CTMC
SAN MARCOS, TX – It’s hot outside, so come inside and roll up your sleeve for a Summer Blood Drive at Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) on Tuesday, July 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in CTMC’s Main Classroom.

CTMC sponsors blood drives in conjunction with The Blood Center of Central Texas. Blood drives are an essential part of providing health care to the community. In order to maintain a blood supply that will support the surrounding area, 55,000 units of blood must be donated quarterly. An individual donation can save the lives of two other people.

“Each donation makes a tremendous impact in our community,” said Clay DeStefano, CTMC Administrative Director of PR & Marketing. “The supply of blood during the summer months is extremely limited as people go on vacations and give less. The blood donations are important for our trauma patients and to treat illnesses,” DeStefano adds.

You can sign up before the event or find answers to any questions you may have about donating online at www.inyourhands.org. Be sure to use Sponsor Code: CTMC and remember to eat a full meal before donating and to bring your photo I.D.
