SAN MARCOS, TX – For more than twenty years, Kye Kilpatrick Fox has been committed to making a positive change in her community. Fox will share her message during The Women’s Council of the Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) Foundation’s 2nd Annual Women’s Council Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hill Country Event Center.

As a full time volunteer and philanthropist, it was in 1999 when Fox was among a core group of women who founded the United Way Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) of San Antonio and Bexar County. Since then, the WLC has grown to more than 1,300 members and has raised $21 million in ten years of operation . Fox is also the former chair of the National United Way Women’s Leadership Council.

“It is an honor to have Kye Kilpatrick Fox share her passion and enthusiasm as a community-minded philanthropist with our group of diverse women who are also committed to giving back, right here in Hays County,” said Jerilyn Miller, CTMC Foundation Coordinator. “The CTMC Women’s Council is dedicated to empowering women to serve as both donors and decision makers.”

The CTMC Foundation invites women to give back to Hays County and become part of The Women’s Council, a philanthropic committee of the CTMC Foundation. Its mission is to encourage women to strengthen and invest in our community by promoting programs and services that benefit women and children.

Since the initial meeting of Women’s Council in April of 2010, the founders have been engaging women throughout Hays County in an effort to join their mission. A tiered dues structure provides council members with a non-traditional fundraising method. The Women’s Council recently presented $8,500 in grants during the First Annual Grant Awards Ceremony to help young children read, helping teen girls become role models, granting ultrasounds and counseling to expecting mothers and providing scholarships for certified nurse aids. The Council has grown to 60 members since the Founders first gathered; however, the group would like to see more area women get involved.
