The cardiac cath lab at CTMC provides advanced technology for the diagnosis and treatment of a range of coronary (heart) and vascular conditions. The early diagnosis and treatment of these problems is key to restoring health. Procedures in the cath lab are performed by local cardiologists and radiologists.
Diagnostic coronary angiograms are done on a daily basis. These are commonly called "heart caths". Vascular angiograms are also performed. These procedures are used to make a diagnosis of either coronary heart disease or peripheral (legs/arms) vascular disease.
Other procedures performed in the cath lab are pacemaker implants, angioplasty of dialysis grafts, along with procedures that diagnose structural heart disease.
