Emergency Department

Our 24-hour emergency room, surgery, and intensive care units are in place to assure that whatever the emergency, we can help. We are equipped with 20 beds, including five trauma rooms, two gynecological examination rooms, five minor care beds and eight treatment rooms.

We know that family and friends of the patient are concerned, so we work to keep these guests informed and as comfortable as possible in our newly renovated ER lobby.

In preparation for any type of emergency, we have a helicopter stationed on our helipad that is available 24 hours a day to transport critical patients for advanced care.

The Emergency Department cares for victims of sexual assault by providing the services of certified sexual nurse examiners on-call 24 hours a day.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Our intensive/cardiac care unit provides patients with the high level of care and attention theyneed following surgery, heart attack or critically ill conditions demand. A state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring system allows our specialists to rapidly respond to a patient needs. In addition, cutting-edge ventilators are also available for patients who need assistance breathing. A special waiting area is available for family and visitors.

AirEvac Lifeteam

AirEvac Lifeteam provides responsive service to injured or critically ill patients throughout the region. Some are directed to Austin or San Antonio for advanced care. The helicopter, owned and operated by AirEvac Lifeteam, is stationed on the helipad at CTMC, and a staff of 11 employees operate out of offices set up at CTMC.

The aircraft, a Bell Longranger L3 helicopter, has proven to be one of the safest aircrafts in the aviation industry. It can accommodate one stretcher and two medical attendants in an aerial ambulance configuration. The AirEvac Lifeteam medical staff provides a mobile ICU to patients in need. The team offers ICU-level care for their patients from initial contact to arrival at the final destination, allowing for a seamless medical transition. This experience is based on a minimum of 5 years in 911 service.  An annual cadaver lab enables the AirEvac Lifeteam to practice advanced procedures such as advanced airway management, chest tube placement, and pericardiocentesis.

Medicare, Medicaid, and most health plans cover their services. However, AirEvac Lifeteam transports patients regardless of their ability to pay.
