SAN MARCOS, TX – Whether you’re already expecting or simply considering pregnancy this year, Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) 3rd annual BabyFest is a great way to become familiar with the latest in products and services for moms and babies. BabyFest will be held Sunday, July 22 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the CTMC Main Lobby and central corridors of the CTMC Women’s Center. This year’s event will feature 30 exhibitors, which may be viewed by visiting ctmc.org and clicking the BabyFest banner on the home page. Although the deadline has passed to reserve a booth at BabyFest, those interested in making a contribution may donate door prizes and/or coupons for the gift bags until July 13.
”Within Hays County we have so many great resources for mom, baby and family,” said Margie Lieck, CTMC Director of Women’s Services. “Moms and moms-to-be are already incredibly busy, so it is important that we bring all of these resources and organizations together for a fun, one-stop shop-ortunity and so much more.”
This year, all the babies born at the Women’s Center since it opened in late 2009 have also been invited to the event. CTMC’s baby photographer will be on hand to take complementary photos of the babies and their families. Additional highlights of BabyFest include networking opportunities with area new moms and moms to be, baby boutiques, eco-friendly products, nutritional options for moms and babies, information on vaccinations and safety, representatives from obstetrics, pediatric physicians who practice at CTMC and more.

The hospital, which originated in 1923 as Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital, was restructured in 1960. The present facility was opened at its current Wonder World Drive location in 1983. The CTMC staff of more than 700 employees works with more than 220 active and consulting physicians to provide quality services to patients and their families. In addition, over 200 community members and interns from area educational institutions volunteer their services to the hospital. In 2010 and again in 2011, CTMC was named The Best Hospital in Hays County. In addition, CTMC added a certified Chest Pain Center to its ER capabilities in 2011. In 2012, CTMC became the first operating room along the IH-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio to be equipped with a da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery suite.
