3rd Annual 'BabyFest' Will Feature On-Site Photographer and Local Children's Author

SAN MARCOS, TX – Brinda McCrory, RN at Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) and local author of children’s book The Princess and The D: A Sweet Fairy Tale About Diabetes, will be on site at CTMC’s 3rd annual BabyFest event selling and autographing copies of her book that was published last year. The book is a precious story about a Too Sweet Princess who smells like cookies and cake. In the book, the girl’s family finds a magic potion to help her live a normal life. McCrory wrote the book for her granddaughter after she was born with diabetes.

BabyFest will take place this Sunday, July 22, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the CTMC Main Lobby and central corridors of the CTMC Women’s Center. As an additional bonus for attending the event, CTMC’s baby photographer will be on hand to take complementary photos of returning babies and their families.

Whether you’re already expecting or simply considering pregnancy this year, BabyFest is a great way to become familiar with the latest in products and services for moms and babies. This year’s event will feature 30 exhibitors, which are listed below. They may also be viewed by visiting ctmc.org and clicking the BabyFest banner on the home page.

Additional highlights of BabyFest include networking opportunities with area new moms and moms to be, baby boutiques, eco-friendly products, nutritional options for moms and babies, information on vaccinations and safety, representatives from obstetrics, pediatric physicians who practice at CTMC and more.

About CTMC
The hospital, which originated in 1923 as Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital, was restructured in 1960. The present facility was opened at its current Wonder World Drive location in 1983. The CTMC staff of more than 700 employees works with more than 220 active and consulting physicians to provide quality services to patients and their families. In addition, over 200 community members and interns from area educational institutions volunteer their services to the hospital. In 2010 and again in 2011,  CTMC was named The Best Hospital in Hays County.  In addition, CTMC added a certified Chest Pain Center to its ER capabilities in 2011. In 2012, CTMC became the first operating room along the IH-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio to be equipped with a da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery suite.

CTMC is a member of the Adventist Health System (AHS), a not-for-profit healthcare organization that emphasizes Christ at the center of care. Founded in 1973, AHS  has quickly grown to become the largest not-for-profit Protestant healthcare provider in the nation. Today, AHS  supports 43 hospitals and employs 55,000 individuals. AHS hospitals are comprised of 7,700 licensed beds, providing care for 4 million patients each year in inpatient, outpatient and emergency room visits.
