Central Texas Medical Center: News

A New Sign of Help for San Marcos
SAN MARCOS, TX – There is a new sign of help and hope in San Marcos – a contemporary display of Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) logo is now visible for all to see from afar. The latest phase of the hospital’s renovation, which is visible from I-35 and the Wonder World Extension, will help better guide those seeking medical attention. The new sign is the first phase of signage and lighting enhancements to the hospital’s main campus slated to be completed this fall.

This past November, the CTMC sign that was above the Wonder World Drive campus for more than a quarter of a century, came down to make way for a new roof on the hospital’s original 4-story structure. Prior to adding the new sign, the entire structure was also resurfaced and given a more contemporary appearance. The exterior facelift renovation to the original 1983 structure compliments the recent 64,000 square foot expansion of the new Women’s Center and created a more visible presence from a distance.

”CTMC has seen many enhancements and improvements to the Wonder World Drive campus and these latest efforts are perhaps among the more crucial ones in terms of making it easier for our patients and visitors to find us, ” said Clay DeStefano, CTMC Administrative Director of PR and Marketing.

The hospital that started at this location as Hays Memorial 27 years ago, has grown into a much larger facility offering a wider range of specialty care services. Despite numerous expansions, the facility had becomes less visible over the past few years as residential and commercial developments grew along the Wonder World corridor.

Phases II and III of the exterior renovation will include enhanced campus lighting and a lighted lantern, which will mirror the look of the lanterns used on the Wonder World Extension and be placed directly above the new sign, are projected to be in place by early fall.
