Community invited to attend Daylight Dance
SAN MARCOS, TX – Research shows that dancing promotes balance and strength, as well as memory and brain function. Besides the well-documented mental and physical benefits, dancing also encourages interpersonal relationships, an essential part of optimal wellness.

The community is invited to share in fun, food and friendship at the upcoming Daylight Dance on June 28. The event will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, located at 3039 Ranch Road 12 in San Marcos.

Admission to the Daylight Dance is just $1, and refreshments will be provided. According to event coordinator Camille Phillips, the dance will be held in a positive church environment that is “acoustically alive.” A disc jockey will play primarily country and western music, and guests will have a chance to win door prizes. Guests are encouraged to wear red, white and blue in celebration of the upcoming July 4 holiday.

“The Daylight Dance is possible because of the great support from our community partners – Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC), HEB, Horizon Bay, and Texas State University,” Phillips said. “We invite everyone to join us, and if people would like to come and just listen to the music, we are happy to have them.”

Volunteer opportunities for the Daylight Dance are available. Assisted-living facilities are encouraged to help shuttle guests to and from the dance. For more information, call Phillips at (512) 757-4971.

CTMC is sponsoring the Daylight Dance as part of its CREATION Health efforts. The CREATION Health lifestyle promotes whole person wellness through 8 principles – Choice, Rest, Environment, Activity, Trust in God, Interpersonal Relationships, Outlook and Nutrition.
