CTMC And Wimberley EMS Act In Time To Save Lives
SAN MARCOS, TX – Every second counts when someone is having a heart attack. Knowing how to recognize the symptoms and treat a heart attack can save a person’s life. Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) Institute for Healthy Living and Wimberley Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Systems, Inc. are teaming up to offer, “Act In Time: Healthy Heart Seminar,” Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Wimberley Community Center Blanco Room. Heart healthy refreshments will be served.
CTMC Trauma Coordinator Susan Youngblood, RN, BSN, along with members of the Wimberley EMS team will demonstrate how the heart functions, how to recognize the warning signs, what to do when they appear and how to reduce your risk of heart disease.
“Wimberley EMS is proud to be working alongside Central Texas Medical Center to bring the Act in Time cardiac awareness program to the citizens of the Wimberley valley,” said Wimberley EMS Director Ken Strange.
CTMC is focused on treating heart patients with a new Chest Pain Center currently under development in CTMC’s ER. Specialized protocols and services will be in place for all patients arriving in the ER suffering from chest pain or other potential heart attack symptoms.
“Thousands of people survive heart attacks and fast treatment is generally the key to survival,” said Youngblood. “Living a healthy lifestyle can be critical for prevention.”
