CTMC Celebrates Changing Seasons With "Cooking With Autumn Flavors"
SAN MARCOS, TX – As the seasons change, the summer heat will subside and the fresh, autumn vegetables will be ready to serve in a healthy dish for your family. Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) Institute for Healthy Living is offering, “Cooking with Autumn Flavors”, a free healthy cooking demonstration on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the CTMC Community Classroom.
The cooking demonstration, which is part of an ongoing series held each quarter as the seasons change, will be lead by CTMC’s Dietary and Nutrition Team and will focus on foods that are in-season during the autumn months. The program includes unique, healthy recipes along with samples and handouts of the recipes.
“A diet rich in color with fresh fruits and vegetables is a good start to a healthy diet,” said Alicia Westfall RD, LD, CTMC Food and Nutrition Services Manager. “Our healthy cooking demonstration will show creative ways to make a delicious meal and live a healthy lifestyle.”
The CTMC Institute for Healthy Living is pleased to offer a number of programs that emphasize living healthy and eating right. In addition to the quarterly healthy cooking demonstration, programs and services include individual dietary counseling, diabetes education and support, Way 2 Go Kids, Weight Watchers, the Annual HealthCheck county-wide screening event and more.
