The Childbirth Center isn’t the only thing expanding at CTMC’s Women’s Center. The arrival of a new Women’s Center Director, new Nurse Manager of the OB unit, and a specialized Childbirth Educator/Lactation Consultant late last fall has also helped to create a completely new set of Childbirth Education offerings at the facility.
The new slate of programming includes enhancements to the popular Childbirth Preparation for first time mothers and Cradle of Care’s expansion to include lactation services for all mothers in Hays County. Several new offerings include a Childbirth Refresher class for returning parents, a class on Cesarean Sections, Breastfeeding and scheduled tours of the facility for expectant families. In addition, all of the programs are now offered in both English and Spanish.
“When we took a look at the needs of our community and the expanded services our new facility will be providing, we knew we had to give birth to a broader range of programming,” says Ria Grobler, RN, CTMC Women’s Center Director. “In fact, we’re not done yet,” she adds.
Additional programs in development include a program with the SMCISD for Pregnant Teens. Car Seat Safety Clinics, Daddy Boot Camp and exercise programs for expectant moms and moms and their new babies are also being considered.
