CTMC expands Heart Month awareness and activities
SAN MARCOS, TX – Who has touched your heart?

That’s the question Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) is asking social media followers to answer during American Heart Month, which is nationally observed in February. Starting Feb. 1, contestants should post a brief video to www.facebook.com/CentralTexasMedicalCenter of themselves or someone else describing a special person who has tugged on their heart strings. The winner will be selected on February 28 by CTMC’s judging panel and will receive a $100 Visa gift card and a Columbia sport package. Participants are asked to be as creative as possible. Writing a song, including video effects or asking your child to answer the question are a few ideas.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States according to the Center for Disease Control. Because one out of every three deaths in the United States is heart-related, CTMC is expanding its outreach efforts this year. CTMC and its 2013 heart month partners are pleased to bring the following heart related events to our area.

“Given our expanding specialty cardiac services and the high incidence of heart disease in Central Texas, it’s time for CTMC and the residents of Hays County to focus more on heart healthy,” said Clay DeStefano, CTMC executive director of PR/Marketing. “We’re pleased to be able to bring these fun and effective ways to improve one’s heart health.”
