(San Marcos, Texas) – Cardiac Cath Lab nurse Felicia Petri, RN, received CTMC’s annual Nursing Excellence Award at a ceremony last week. The award was presented as part of the hospital’s 2018 Nurses Week activities.
Felicia was one of 39 nurses nominated for the award this year. She was nominated by CTMC technician Angelie Ruiz.
Angelie noted, “You hear people ‘were born for this,’ well that’s Felicia. She was born to help others no matter who you are, where you came from, or what you did. Felicia has a great attitude and a will to learn. There was a time when a cardiac patient came in late at night and needed special care. Felicia stepped up and used her background in ICU to stay and care for the patient until the next nurse came in the morning.”
Angelie commended Felicia for teaching others, being willing to do any task and bringing new ideas to her department.
Chief Nursing Officer Elsie Graves shared, “We were impressed by the number of nominations this year. That speaks volumes about our nursing team at CTMC and how much they impact patient care every day. Felicia’s nomination was special because it highlighted how she serves as a role model to other team members and how she comforts our Spanish-speaking community as a bilingual nurse.”
During her four years at CTMC, Felicia has worked in the Medical/Surgical Unit, the Intensive Care Unit and the Cardiac Cath Lab. Felicia and her family live in Kyle, Texas.
