SAN MARCOS, TEXAS
– Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) recently introduced another layer to its efforts to improve the heart health of those it serves.
“Walk With A Cardiologist” takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the CTMC CREATION Health Walking Trail. Participants should meet in the parking lot in front of the Women’s Center at the hospital’s main campus on Wonder World Drive in San Marcos
The weekly event provides an opportunity for activity, as well as a chance to ask a physician questions about health concerns without going to the doctor’s office. Anyone is welcome to participate.
CTMC has made several strides in cardiac care since 2011, including becoming a Certified Chest Pain Center, implementing an interventional cardiac catheterization lab, receiving Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers, introducing a cardiac rehabilitation unit and more.
In addition, as part of its CREATION Health and employee wellness efforts, CTMC will soon give interested employees a free pedometer to participate in the “Steps to CREATION Health” pedometer challenge, which will officially begin on April 7.
CREATION Health is a health and wellness lifestyle program that combines Choice, Rest, Environment, Activity, Trust in God, Interpersonal Relationships, Outlook and Nutrition to achieve optimal wellness. Adventist Health System (AHS), CTMC’s parent company, developed the philosophy.
