CTMC Offers Free Summer Healthy Cooking Demonstration
SAN MARCOS, TX – The official start of summer is almost here. There’s nothing like eating fresh vegetables and fruit, grown right here in Hays County, on a hot summer day. Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) Institute for Healthy Living is offering “Farmer’s Market”, a free, healthy cooking demonstration on Tuesday, June 21from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the CTMC Community Classroom. CTMC’s Registered Dieticians will focus on foods that grow well in our area.
”Incorporating fresh produce is a simple way to create a healthy and delicious meal,” said Alicia Westfall, CTMC Nutrition Services Director. “Cooking healthy can be easy and there are plenty of nutritious recipes to make a quick meal during the busy summer.”
The demonstration will include unique recipes along with samples and handouts of the recipes. This cooking demonstration is just one of the many programs available through CTMC’s Institute for Healthy Living. Additional programs focus on wellness, disease management, support groups, women’s health, healthy living for seniors, children’s health and more.
To register for the free summer cooking demonstration, log on to www.ctmc.org and click on the “Class & Event Calendar” under Education and Events or you may call CTMC’s Institute for Healthy Living at 512-753-3818. While you’re at it, be sure to mark your calendar for our free, fall healthy cooking demonstration on September 15.
