CTMC's Institute for Advanced Wound Healing Named "Center of Distinction"
SAN MARCOS, TX – Hays County’s only wound care center, Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) Institute for Advanced Wound Healing, has earned the prestigious Center of Distinction award from Diversified Clinical Services, Inc. The Institute, which specializes in advanced wound therapies, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, exceeded the key performance indicators necessary for this award for twelve consecutive months in 2010.
Diversified Clinical Services, Inc. (DCS), which is the largest wound care company in the United States, raised the standards to qualify for the award in 2010. A wound center must have at least an 89% healing rate, 90% satisfaction rate and 21% or less outliers. CTMC’s Institute for Advanced Wound Healing surpassed each of these measures, including its healing rate of 96%.
“We are pleased CTMC’s Institute for Advanced Wound Healing is being recognized for its outstanding success rate,” said Clay DeStefano, CTMC Administrative Director of PR and Marketing. “The physicians and staff give 100% to each patient with the focus of healing and improving a person’s quality of life.”
The Institute for Advanced Wound Healing opened its doors in 2009 on the first floor of CTMC’s Professional Building. Patrick N. Kimbrell, M.D. and Heather A. McKenzie, M.D., are co-Medical Directors. Both are Certified Wound Specialists. The team works with patients with, at risk, slow to heal problem wounds such as arterial wounds, diabetic ulcers, traumatic wounds, surgery wounds, soft tissue infections, bone infections, burn wounds and radiation wounds.
