Central Texas Medical Center: News

CTMC's next Senior Dance will feature holiday theme
SAN MARCOS, TX – Are you a senior citizen looking for a healthy celebration of activity, healthy refreshments and an opportunity to develop more interpersonal relationships?

Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) next Senior Dance will take place on Dec. 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center, located at 501 East Hopkins Street.
With Christmas on the horizon, guests are encouraged to share their holiday spirit by wearing festive sweaters and Christmas accessories.

“We are calling all senior citizens to come out and enjoy a fun activity and an opportunity to expand friendships,” said CTMC Community Relations Coordinator Lisa Adams.

The CTMC Senior Dance is sponsored by the City of San Marcos, who donates the space for the event. CTMC Hospice Care will also sponsor the Senior Dance on Dec. 4. Live music will be provided by DJ John Hanson.

Research shows that dancing promotes balance and strength, as well as memory and brain function. Besides the well-documented mental and physical benefits, dancing also encourages interpersonal relationships, an essential part of optimal wellness that is promoted in the CREATION Health principles.

CREATION Health is a faith-based health and wellness philosophy that was developed by Adventist Health System (AHS), CTMC’s parent company. The CREATION Health principles are based on biblical ideas that promote a balanced approach to achieving optimal health. The proven results of this lifestyle on wellness and longevity are extraordinary. For more information about CREATION Health, visit ctmc.org and click on the CREATION Health banner on the home page.

Plans are in development for the following free senior dances in 2014: February, April, June, August, October and December. Each dance will have a theme.

Please RSVP for the CTMC Senior Dance by calling the CTMC Institute for Healthy Living at (512) 753-3818.
