Dr. Erik Anderson to provide monthly talks for patients considering weight loss surgery
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – The CREATION Health Institute at Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) will soon begin offering monthly educational sessions for patients considering minimally invasive, robotic-assisted weight loss surgery.###
Dr. Erik Anderson, a general surgeon for Live Oak Health Partners (LOHP) and the region’s leading da Vinci robotic surgeon, will offer a bariatric presentation and be available to answer questions on every second Tuesday. The first session will take place on September 9 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the CTMC Small Community Classroom.
Built upon CTMC’s success as a leader in robotic procedures between San Antonio and Austin, the Weight Loss Center at LOHP offers multiple weight loss surgeries, including gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and Lap Band using the da Vinci robotic-assisted surgical system.
“Weight loss surgery helps patients prevent or reverse the serious diseases and conditions associated with obesity, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, elevated cholesterol, gastro-esophageal reflux disease and sleep apnea,” Anderson said. “We are also committed to helping our patients build and maintain healthy habits into their daily routines for overall improved wellness.”
Before and after surgery, each patient is guided by CTMC’s dedicated team of specialists, including primary care physicians, registered dietitians, clinical counselors, wellness coaches and more. In addition, the hospital offers a wealth of educational resources through its CREATION Health Institute, including workshops, healthy cooking classes, healthy activities hosted on campus, support groups and more.
If you would like to RSVP for an upcoming weight loss surgery talk, please call the CTMC CREATION Health Institute at (512) 753-3818. To learn more about the Weight Loss Center at LOHP, visit liveoakhealthpartners.com.
