SAN MARCOS, TX – Roses, lilies and hydrangea were just a few of the flowers that filled the Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) lobby Monday morning. The brightly colored bouquets were a donation from the Texas State Florists Association. The group recently held its annual convention in San Marcos, Texas.
The Texas State Florists Association traditionally donates floral arrangements to a hospital located near the convention site. This year, CTMC patients were chosen as the recipients of more than 100 bouquets.
“Research has shown patients who have flowers in their room heal faster,” said Maxine Schaffer, owner and floral designer at The Floral Studio in San Marcos. Schaffer was chosen by the association to serve as the local representative responsible for the floral delivery to CTMC.
CTMC volunteers played an important role making the day brighter for patients as they hand delivered flowers to each room. “This is a very nice gesture by the Texas State Florists Association,” said Belinda Gardner, CTMC Volunteer Services Coordinator.
