Dr. Bryan Hambric is the newest member of the Live Oak Health Partners surgical team. He has 19 years general surgical experience, most recently in Seguin and New Braunfels. He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine.
“The most exciting innovation I’ve seen as a surgeon is the advance of robotic surgery. The technology is a substantial improvement over laparoscopic approaches. The da Vinci robotic system gives tremendous depth perception, 3D visualization and detailed control for the surgeon.”
Patients benefit from robotic surgery because there are shorter hospital stays and less discomfort. Robotic incisions are much smaller, so there is minimal scarring for many procedures.
“I was very impressed that CTMC is so focused on robotics and safety for patients. They’re ahead of the curve. CTMC got behind the daVinci robotic system early on, and they keep upgrading all the time. Nationwide, adoption of robotics is not as fast as you would think.”
“I first became interested in heart health and heart surgery, but living in a smaller town, I found that I was more valuable to our patients if I focused on general surgery.”
Dr. Hambric began seeing patients in January. He looks forward to expanding his field of service to include bariatric surgery for diabetics.
“When I talk with my surgical patients, I stress that the choices they make each day are going to make a giant impact on their health - as much of an impact as the surgery. People should realize that their lifestyle and
choices contribute to the outcome of their surgery. Making those small changes now will make the surgical
changes last much longer.”
