Walk-In Clinic vs. Emergency Room: Where should you go?
3/29/2015 3:19 PM
When you need medical care, a walk-in care clinic may be a sufficient option. However, your issue may require a visit to your local emergency room.
A walk-in care clinic is a great option when you have a minor problem that you want to receive fast and convenient care for. This could include conditions such as a cold, skin rash, sprain or minor cut. The emergency room is more appropriate for major accidents and illnesses or things that would require being admitted to the hospital.
There’s also a difference in cost. As a general rule, emergency rooms are more expensive. Although cost is important to all of us, you should go to the place that is best suited to fulfill your medical need.
If you need a low-cost option for a minor problem and need to be seen quickly, a walk-in care clinic can be a great option. Live Oak Walk-In Care offers affordable medical care on weekends and evenings when your doctor’s office is closed. Most insurance is accepted, and our staff speaks fluent Spanish.
