Should you Google your symptoms before seeing your doctor?

The Internet has without a doubt changed the relationship between physicians and their patients.
I think the Internet helps patients. In fact, I wish more of them would use the Internet to investigate their health concerns prior to visiting their physician. I find that those who are motivated to get informed about their health generally do better than those who do not take the time to do research.
Sometimes patients come in with pre-conceived ideas about a certain condition because of something they read online. If they are not absolutely correct, the physician must spend some extra time to educate them and provide better resources. Over all, however, I think an informed population of patients tends to be healthier.
