SAN MARCOS, TX
– Moms, dads and kids will all enjoy Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) 4th annual BabyFest, taking place on Sunday, July 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the CTMC Main Lobby and central corridors of the CTMC Women’s Center. Besides participating in fun activities, families are invited to spend the afternoon accessing valuable information and services in a healthy and festive setting.
”Within Hays County we have so many great resources for mom, baby and family,” said Margie Lieck, CTMC Director of Women’s Services. “Moms and moms-to-be are already incredibly busy, so it is extremely helpful to bring all of these resources and organizations together for a fun, one-stop shop-ortunity and so much more.”
Moms and moms-to-be will have the chance to complete an entry form at the event in exchange for a free goody bag and a chance to win a door prize. Some of the door prizes include gift cards, gift baskets, tickets to see Peter Pan at EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens in Wimberley, a bouncy seat, a spa pedicure set, boppy pillows, a car seat and stroller, a micro laser peel and much more.
Dads will have the opportunity to participate in HH Fitness’ fitness challenge, which provides a chance to win a $100, $50 or $25 gift card.
There are plenty of kids’ activities planned for this year’s event as well, and little ones will not leave BabyFest empty-handed. Kids will be able to participate in face painting and crafts, as well as meet some of their favorite storybook characters including Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and Captain Hook. They will also be provided with goodies such as stickers, free books, coloring sheets, coloring books, crayons and bookmarks.
More than 35 vendors will be present at BabyFest, and all guests are encouraged to get a hole punched in their “grand door prize punch card” at each booth. The punch card will be provided to guests upon entering BabyFest, and those who turn completed cards in after visiting every table will be eligible for the grand door prize, which will be announced at the event.
Additional highlights of BabyFest include networking opportunities with area parents and parents-to-be, complimentary refreshments, representatives from obstetrics, pediatric physicians who practice at CTMC and more. Mini-tours of the Women’s Center will be given, and a complimentary photographer will be on-site. The hospital, which originated in 1923 as Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital, was restructured in 1960. The present facility was opened at its current Wonder World Drive location in 1983. The CTMC staff of more than 700 employees works with more than 220 active and consulting physicians to provide quality services to patients and their families.
In addition, over 200 community members and interns from area educational institutions volunteer their services to the hospital. In 2010, 2011 and 2012, CTMC was named The Best Hospital in Hays County. CTMC also added a certified Chest Pain Center to its ER capabilities in 2011. In 2012, CTMC became the first operating room along the IH-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio to be equipped with a da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery suite.
CTMC is a member of the Adventist Health System (AHS), a not-for-profit healthcare organization that emphasizes Christ at the center of care. Founded in 1973, AHS has quickly grown to become the largest not-for-profit Protestant healthcare provider in the nation. Today, AHS supports 43 hospitals and employs 55,000 individuals.
