Types of Bariatric Surgeries

Gastric Sleeve

Also called endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, a gastric sleeve reduces the size of your stomach using an endoscopic suturing device without the need for invasive surgery.

Gastric Bypass

Gastric bypass is one of the most common types of bariatric surgery in the United States. Also called Roux-en-Y (roo-en-wy), gastric bypass involves creating a small pouch from the stomach and connecting that newly created pouch directly to the small intestine. After gastric bypass, swallowed food will go into this small pouch of stomach and then directly into the small intestine, bypassing most of your stomach and the first section of your small intestine.
