What is Cardiac Rehabilitation?
Cardiac rehabilitation incorporates specialized cardiovascular and strength training regimens that put patients on the road to recovery, allowing them to feel and function better. It also educates patients on how to live a healthier life moving forward.
Cardiac Rehabilitation is for anyone who:
- Has heart disease, such as angina
- Has suffered from a heart attack
- Has undergone a heart procedure, such as a balloon catheter, stent procedure or coronary bypass surgery
What are the benefits?
Cardiac rehabilitation helps increase longevity and quality of life for patients with heart issues. As a result, patients feel better, become stronger and decrease their risk of developing future heart problems.
What our program offers:
The staff at CTMC is committed to improving every patient’s heart health, overall well being and quality of life.
Our highly-trained cardiac rehabilitation team addresses each patient’s unique situation to develop a program that is specifically designed for their individual needs.
After the evaluation process, patients are given an activity regimen that outlines the types and amounts of physical activity they need to practice regularly (usually three to five times per week). Types of exercise may include walking, cycling or swimming. Patients are also taught proper physical activity techniques, such as stretching, warming up and cooling down to ensure even better outcomes for their efforts.
Patients are provided with counseling on the lifestyle habits and nutrition choices that can improve or worsen heart conditions.
Heart problems often have an impact on a person’s mental and emotional state, especially if their condition has caused permanent injury or disability. In such cases, additional support is necessary. CTMC’s cardiac rehabilitation program focuses on lifting spirits and improving patient outlook, increasing their chances of success.
