SAN MARCOS, TEXAS
– Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) is now providing 24-7 coverage of its interventional cardiac catheterization lab. Through a partnership with Austin Heart, a team of interventional cardiologists is now providing interventional cardiac services around the clock, and a San Marcos-based interventional cardiologist will be in place next month.
“We are pleased to achieve our long-time goal of providing interventional cardiac care full-time, and we would like to thank everyone who played a role in making it happen,” said CTMC CEO/President Sam Huenergardt. “Because early diagnosis and treatment of these problems is key to restoring health, this is a very important step in expanding not only our cardiac services, but our commitment to the residents of Hays County.”
During the past several years, CTMC has made significant strides for advancing cardiac care available locally, including becoming an Accredited Chest Pain Center, receiving Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers, being recognized as a Fit-Friendly Worksite in San Marcos and introducing a Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit.
CTMC’s Interventional Cardiac Program provides advanced technology for the diagnosis and treatment of a range of coronary and vascular conditions, meaning patients can stay closer to home for services they previously had to travel to larger cities for. Procedures completed in CTMC’s interventional cardiac catheterization lab include:
• Diagnostic coronary angiograms (heart caths)
• Vascular Angiograms
• Angioplasty of Dialysis Grafts
• Diagnostic Procedures for Structural Heart Disease
This year, CTMC once again earned the Mission: Lifeline Bronze Quality Achievement recognition for using evidence-based guidelines to provide the best possible care to patients through the American Heart Association / American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® and Mission: Lifeline® programs. CTMC also received the recognition in 2012.
