CTMC Offers Support to Caregivers
SAN MARCOS, TX – Caregiving is a journey. And like most journeys, a road map can make all the difference in the quality of the trip and whether you reach your destination. That is why Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) Heritage Program for Senior Adults is offering a free, three-part community lecture series designed uniquely for caregivers.
“Helping Caregivers Go the Distance” is a program that helps caregivers develop a roadmap of their own caregiving journey. Caregivers can learn about structure in the home, legal planning, managing stress, long-term care planning and dealing with loved ones with Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
“As an individual takes on the new support role for a loved one as a caregiver, that individual needs educational and emotional support through the transition,” said Clara Hollis, CTMC Heritage Senior Program Director.
The program will be held the third Wednesday of each month, for three consecutive months, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the new CTMC Community Classroom. Sessions are slated for Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Dec. 15. For more information about these sessions, please call the CTMC Institute for Healthy Living at 512-753-3818.
