HealthCheck event will offer discounted blood screenings and additional free assessments
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS
– The 28th annual Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) CREATION HealthCheck Screening and Health Fair, Hays County’s oldest and largest health screening event, will be held this Monday, April 14 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in San Marcos.
Through this annual outreach effort, community members are able to receive more than $500 worth of valuable health screenings and services for a low $45 fee. Those who were not able to attend a pre-event community blood draw may register the day of the the event, but they must fast for at least 8 hours prior. Blood draws will take place from 7 to 10 a.m.
The Basic Screening Panel includes:
• Complete Metabolic Panel (screening for glucose, renal and liver disorders)
• Lipid Panel (cholesterol with HDL/LDL breakdown, triglycerides)
• Complete Blood Cell Count (white blood cell,, hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelets)
All participants are urged to spend an hour or more at the HealthCheck event to maximize their experience. More than 60 health-related exhibitors will be on site, and more than 40 will offer additional screenings. Booths offering free screenings/assessments will be marked with a red balloon.

The hospital, which originated in 1923 as Hays County Soldiers, Sailors and Marines Memorial Hospital, was restructured in 1960. The present facility was opened at its current Wonder World Drive location in 1983. The CTMC staff of more than 700 employees works with more than 220 active and consulting physicians to provide quality services to patients and their families.

In 2012, CTMC became the first operating room along the IH-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio to be equipped with a da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery suite.
