The breast screening and diagnostic journey

The Women’s Center for Breast Health at Central Texas Medical Center was designed as a spa-like setting for assessing breast health and finding the resources for any further action. Because breast cancer is treatable, the center is a place of hope.
Digital mammography allows radiologists to detect breast cancer at its earliest development and the images can be viewed within seconds. Plush robes, Bella Blanket coverlets, popular music and refreshments add to the comfortable experience.
A unique service for the Women’s Center for Breast Health at CTMC patients is our navigator program. If you should need further diagnostics or have a cancer diagnosis, our navigator is available to answer your questions and explain your options to you as outlined by your physician.
Our breast center navigator, Lesley Castillo, provides education and emotional support for patients, as well as their family members, serving as a liaison between the patient and their treatment providers. With this assistance, we can provide you with timely delivery of diagnostics, treatment and follow-up services.
In the event of a malignancy, CTMC’s team of surgeons can assist you with a biopsy and surgery. Our goal is to provide each patient with seamless care from mammogram to lumpectomy.
Women who are faced with a mastectomy decision will be glad to know that there are two options: mastectomy with eventual reconstruction or mastectomy and simultaneous reconstruction.
