Mommy makeovers: More affordable and common than you think

The concept behind a mommy makeover is essentially working on the breast and the abdomen because both go through significant changes during pregnancy. Stretch marks, loose skin in the belly and volume loss in the breasts are some of the top concerns I see.
At the Aesthetic Center at Live Oak Health Partner
s, we take holistic and surgical approaches. Patients considering a mommy makeover don’t necessarily need surgery. We can discuss exercises that will help to tighten the abdomen. I’ve also done chemical peels on the abdomen that help to tighten the skin.
I have seen patients who work out several hours a day without seeing the results they want, and these are good surgical candidates. For the abdomen, we can do an abdominoplasty—or tummy tuck—to remove excess fat and skin. Liposuction is another surgical option we provide that removes excess fat deposits and improves the body’s contours.
When it comes to breasts, volume loss and drooping are often concerns after pregnancy. We can replace the volume through augmentation, or we can go for more natural approaches such as fat injections.
A big misnomer about mommy makeovers is that they are cost prohibitive. Most people come in expecting to spend $30-40,000, and that’s not the case. You’re really looking at anywhere from $5-10,000, and we can help connect patients with resources that provide assistance for these types of procedures. Through our affiliation with Central Texas Medical Center
(CTMC), we are able to be more cost-effective.
One way to save money on a mommy makeover is opting for saline implants because they cost half as much as silicone. If a patient has a breast and abdominal procedure done, we discount the second procedure to make it more affordable..
