San Marcos orthopedic surgeon receives second Physician Recognition Award from AMA
SAN MARCOS, TX – James Baker, M.D., a board-certified orthopedic surgeon on CTMC’s medical staff, was recently presented with a Physician Recognition Award (PRA) from the American Medical Association (AMA). He received the award after he recertified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, scoring in the top 7 percent. PRA’s are given to physicians for showing their commitment to patient care through continuing medical education. Dr. Baker was also presented with a PRA in 2010.

Orthopedic surgeons may recertify once every 10 years and must take a knowledge-based test and meet ethical standards to maintain board certification. In 2004, Dr. Baker scored in the top 6 percent on his recertification test.
